Bernard Heesen

Bernard Heesen (1958 Leerdam, The Netherlands – ) is among Holland’s most appreciated contemporary glass artists.
Educated as an architect and self-taught glass-artist, Bernard Heesen was born in 1958 near Leerdam as the son of famous glass artist Willem Heesen.
He grew up in this very creative environment. After his formal education and studies at the Technical University of Delft, Bernard started to assist his father in his glassworks “De Oude Horn” – a former 18th century water pumping station part of the Dutch Defence system.
Since 1995 Bernard Heesen took over management from his father of the glassworks.
He worked together with famous other glass-artists like Andries Copier, Maria Roosen and Tony Cragg. His works are part of collections of numerous collections; amongs others: Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, National Glassmuseum Leerdam, Art Museum The Hague, Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem.
