Charles Eames (1907 Saint Louis, USA – 1978 Los Angeles, USA) and his wife Ray Eames – Kaiser (1912 Sacramento, USA – 1988 Los Angeles, USA) hardly need much introduction. They are arguable the most well known 20th century designers, most famous for their oeuvre of furniture designs.
Their names are very much accociated with the Good Design movement, an artistic movement or design concept that originated in the 1930s, but took form principally in the United States immediately after the Second World War.
Many of their designs have now reached iconic status, among those the most recognised are the Lounge Chair & Ottoman, designed in 1956.
Museums all over the world have included their work in their collections: MoMa, New York City, British Museum, Design Museum, Helsinki, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam etc.
