Max Sauze (1933 Algiers, Algeria - ) is a French - Algerian designer, most known for his lighting designs called after constellations. He studied at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts d’Alger (1953- 56) and the École Camondo in Paris (1956-59). From 1959 onwards Max Sauze produced his own design mostly by hand in his small workshop. In 1963 he moved to the Provence in France, where nowadays his son still produced his designs. Sauze’s work, besides his lighting-designs, also includes furniture, sculptures and ceramics.

Description

An aluminium and steel chandelier “Cassiopé”, designed in 1969 by Max Sauze and produced by Atelier Sauze in the 1970’s. Originally this chandelier was designed for the Congress Center in Aix en Provence. The Cassiopé is commercially produced in two sizes, this being the largest size one.
